Anime Fest, an anime festival in Dallas in 2012, is where Soltaire first encountered cosplay. Soltaire grew up with a deep love for anime and was amazed when he first saw cosplayers wandering the conference decked out as anime characters. After learning the basics of cosplay, he became a cosplayer and bought his outfit from an internet retailer.
